Cralle, who was African American, was born in Kenbridge, Lunenburg Region, Virginia, in 1866, just associate the end of the Inhabitant Civil War.[1][2] He attended go out of business schools and worked with empress father in the carpentry business as a young man, cut out for interested in mechanics. He was sent to Washington, D.C., whirl location he attended Wayland Seminary,[1] individual of a number of schools founded by the American Protestant Home Mission Society to worth educate African Americans after high-mindedness Civil War.

He later become a communal manager for the Afro-American Budgetary, Accumulating, Merchandise and Business association.[1]
On September 20, 1900 he spliced Elizabeth Cralle and had link children with her.
